SILENCE, THEN SNOW

Introduction to the 'Schnee' concert by Michel Lambert Bozar - Studio , Brussels

Ten years of creative silence, followed by music reborn in the colours and textures of snow. Through musical excerpts, keyboard and video, Michel Lambert takes us deep into Hans Abrahamsen’s extraordinary 'Schnee' and the spellbinding mysteries of Anna Thorvaldsdóttir’s music.

The score Schnee (2008) by Danish composer Hans Abrahamsen is one of the most ambitious creations in his "white" or "snowy" style, marking his return to composition after a ten-year hiatus. This obsession with white and exquisite sonic delicacy does not preclude the presence of an impeccably constructed framework: Schnee is an hour-long journey that strives for an architectural perfection that only Bach sometimes seems to have been able to achieve.

Michel Lambert, pianist and pedagogue, offers the audience of the Het Collectief concert an argumentative, visual and sonic introduction into the secrets of this masterful score, as well as into the evanescent and personal style of the composer Anna Thorvaldsdottir.

The talk will be given in French.
