A la vida Bona
Les Ateliers Claus , Saint-GillesA celebration of life through hip-hop, chaconnes and other forbidden fruits.
8:00 PM: Doors open
Composed of musicians from various contemporary ensembles (Odysseia, Nadar, and Down the Rabbit Hole), GLOW Collective is a group that brings a new repertoire to chamber music! Their program for Ars Musica is no exception to this vision. For example, the Chaconne is first and foremost the second partita for violin by Johann Sebastian Bach, but it is also a bawdy 17th-century Latin American song ( A la Vida Bona! ). Taking this musical form and its multiple meanings as a starting point, GLOW Collective's research is based on the intersection of European and African cultures in Latin America. Through remixes, they draw a parallel with the hip-hop scene via the lyrics of the Belgian-Congolese actor, singer, and producer Pitcho Womba Konga. In a spirit of open and joyful engagement with all cultures, a new work by the Thai-British composer Prach Boondiskulchok also forms the basis of this innovative program.
